Perspectives on Death – Per Faxneld: The supreme leveller – on personifications of death

During this seminar, we explore how perceptions of death have manifested in various cultures and how these perceptions have evolved over time. We begin with the Epic of Gilgamesh and journey through history to the present day. Questions such as why death and morality are closely intertwined in many cultures; how individuals are psychologically affected by the awareness of their impending death; what consciousness entails; and not least how our perspective on death has been influenced by religious and technological changes will be central to our discussion.
