Mental Health – Lars Trägårdh: Exploring the Implications of Individualism
Has individualism led to greater happiness or increased loneliness? Together with Lars Trägårdh, author and Professor of History at Uppsala University, we discuss the Nordic model’s approach to independence, social welfare, and relationships. Unlike many cultures where family and community play central roles, Swedes tend to rely on the state for support.
Lars Trägårdh is a Professor of History at Uppsala University. His published works include State and Civil Society in Northern Europe: The Swedish Model Reconsidered and After National Democracy: Rights, Law and Power in America and the New Europe. Recently, he was appointed by the Swedish government to lead the development of the Swedish cultural canon.
This Engelsberg Interview is led by Patrik Hadenius, linguist, publicist, and former Publishing Director at Norstedts Förlagsgrupp.
